Rizz is charm that works. Not charm as a quality you have — charm as a thing you do to someone, out loud, and it lands. The emoji keyboard has flirting, romance and smugness, and none of them mean this, so people build it out of a smirk and a bitten lip. Here is an actual icon instead.

What it actually means
Rizz is short for charisma, with the front and back filed off. It came out of Twitch around 2021 — Kai Cenat is the name most people attach to it — and meant the specific talent for talking someone into liking you. Not looks, not money: the conversation. By 2023 Oxford had made it word of the year, which normally kills a word, and this one survived because it names something that had no single word before. Charm is a quality. Game is dated. Rizz is charm with a measurable outcome.
It runs as a noun, a verb and a grade. You have rizz, you rizz someone up, and the result gets marked: W rizz when it worked, L rizz when it very much did not. Unspoken rizz is the prestige version — pulling it off without saying anything, which is either the highest form or a cover story for having said nothing. A rizzler is someone with a reliable supply. The whole vocabulary is built around the fact that it can fail, which is what makes it funny.
What kept it alive past the fad window is that it is mostly used about other people, and usually in judgement. Watching a friend try is the point. Sending it after a bad attempt is the point. It is a spectator word, and spectator words need something you can send from the sideline — which is exactly the thing the keyboard does not have.

Why there’s no emoji for it
Every combo people use for rizz is borrowed from something else, and each one drags its original meaning along. That is why none of them stick, and why the same three or four keep getting reposted as though the problem were solved.
Carries the smugness and none of the effect. It is the face of someone who thinks it worked, which is the opposite of it having worked.
Reads as want, not charm — and it is a body part, so it lands heavier than intended in a group chat. The most-suggested option, and the one that misfires most.
Cool, not charming. Cool is a posture you hold alone; rizz needs a second person in the room.
Not an attempt at rizz — a joke about people attempting it. Sending it sincerely marks you as the punchline.
Romance, a century older and several degrees more serious. Rizz is lighter than a rose and knows it.
Deadpan indifference. Doing nothing on purpose. Rizz is the visible effort, so the stone face argues against it.
The Vigil icon draws the mechanism instead of the mood: a person talking, the charm carrying across in arcs, and a heart at the other end that has visibly received it and is beaming. The arcs are the part no emoji has — they show it travelling and landing, which is the whole difference between having charm and using it. Send it as praise, or send it flat as the verdict on an attempt that did not carry.

What does rizz mean?
Charm that works — the ability to talk someone into being interested in you. Short for charisma. It works as a noun (he has rizz), a verb (rizz her up) and a result (W rizz when it lands, L rizz when it doesn’t).
Is there a rizz emoji?
No. Unicode has no rizz emoji, so people improvise with 😏, 🫦, 😎 or the 😏🤫🧏 combo — all borrowed from other meanings. Vigil’s rizz icon is a free PNG you can add to Slack or Discord as a custom emoji, save as an iMessage or WhatsApp sticker, or use as an SVG.
What is W rizz and L rizz?
W is win, L is loss. W rizz is an attempt that worked; L rizz is one that did not, usually shared by someone other than the person who tried. Unspoken rizz is attraction achieved without saying anything.
